ABOUT OPEN LEAGUE

The Southern Squash League’s Open League is our largest and most competitive league — with teams from across Melbourne battling it out over multiple divisions.

It’s open to all players, regardless of gender, with grades to suit everyone from experienced pennant regulars to emerging club players.

Whether you're returning after a break, climbing the rankings, or just want to test yourself, there’s a team that fits.

We run three major Open Pennant seasons annually.

Who Can Join?
  • New and experienced players
  • Players from any Melbourne club
  • Anyone who wants a structured, team-based squash competition

Clubs place players into appropriate teams based on skill level. New players will be assessed

Match Format
  • Most teams play weekly matches on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings (depending on grade/venue)
  • Matches are best-of-5 games, PAR-15 scoring
  • Matches won are decided based on total games won

Hosting clubs often provide supper or snacks, but check with your captain for your venue.

Grading

Grading is done in collaboration between clubs and the SSL committee.

If you're unsure where you fit, ask your club for a grading assessment.
