WELCOME TO THE SOUTHERN SQUASH LEAGUE

Where community, competition, and connection come together.

We are one of Melbourne’s most inclusive, grassroots squash competitions — run entirely by volunteers, backed by passionate clubs, and home to over 200 players across three unique pennants.

Whether you’re playing socially, competitively, or returning to the game after a break, there’s a place for you here. At SSL, it’s not just about winning matches — it’s about keeping the spirit of squash alive, one rally at a time.

OUR MISSION

To create fun, fair, and accessible squash competitions that bring people together across all skill levels and stages of life.

We believe in participation over perfection — building a league that feels welcoming, organised, and full of energy, both on and off the court.

Our vision is to be Melbourne’s most connected community squash league — a space that celebrates inclusion, champions women’s squash, supports new players, and builds lifelong friendships through the sport.

Leagues We Run

The Southern Squash League proudly runs three distinct pennants each season:

WOMEN’S PENNANT

Melbourne’s only women-only squash league, designed to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive space for women of all ages and abilities.

It’s not about rankings — it’s about connection, confidence, and community.

FRIDAY DAYTIME LEAGUE

A unique weekday social competition for players who prefer a relaxed, friendly environment. Perfect for retirees, shift workers, or anyone who enjoys playing during the day and catching up for coffee afterward.

OPEN PENNANT

Our most competitive and diverse league — open to men and women across multiple divisions. If you love structured match play, steady improvement, and a strong community vibe, this is your league.
